Arriving as part of the exciting new ‘10th Collection’, the Nike React Sertu offers a combination of intricately designed textures which have been drawn from both the Footscape Woven and Element React 55. A myriad of layered materials develops from the layered grey suede toe-box, running onto the side panels, resting below a brightly coloured woven textile which makes up the eyelets of the laces. Despite being the most eye-catching component of the shoe, Iron Grey accents dominate and continue onto the heel-counter with an abstract cage ensuring structure throughout. Branding has been kept to a minimal with a reversed swoosh on the toe and a brand new ‘The 10th’ fabric tag on the collar.
Combining tried and tested workwear aspects with a streetwear ready appeal, the React Sertu delivers comfort technology. The brands patented React Technology for the midsole is currently the leader in terms of responsive cushioning in footwear, quite literally ‘reacting’ to every step you take to make any journey a smooth ride. The lightweight structure of the body prevents a restricted feeling and makes for wearability straight out of the box. Finally rubber traction spots on both the outsole and midsole keep you steady on any terrain.
Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, was used as a key focus for this collection. His military experience during WW2 saw him conquering both mountainous and arctic regions, something they wanted their newest lines of shoes to be capable of. Despite this being impressive alone, they even decided to draw on inspiration from traditional moccasins for supreme comfort with a seamless blend of futuristic and retro.
